Conventional wood framing

Noble construction

We believe that conventional solid wood framing or timber framing is akin to cabinetmaking in that it is dedicated to the most majestic of furnishings: the building!
Our avid carpenters focus on the art of the trade and quality of design. Each solid wood frame is custom designed and made in a workshop using artisanal methods and traditional tenon and mortise framing techniques. Each room in our structures is the product of meticulous[HM2]  work. We use various types of wood to create your frame: Douglas fir (BC fir), white pine, hemlock, and oak.

We are passionate about this remarkable construction technique whose virtue, esthetic appeal, and durability have stood the test of time. We have the knowledge and expertise to apply it, honouring its traditions and respecting its original characteristics:

  • Using timber that has been shaped with hand tools
  • Incorporating no or very few metallic elements
  • Selecting and using local wood (which can even be sourced from your land)
  • Douglas fir (BC fir), white pine[HM3] , hemlock, and oak are the types of wood available

Conventional wood framing will add extraordinary value to any project that capitalizes on its benefits:

  • Primary and secondary homes
  • Prestigious horse stables or barns
  • Sheds, garages, and other utility buildings
  • Verandas and pergolas
  • Unique projects such as saunas, mills, and other large-scale projects
